Tenth anniversary party for HomeGrownRadioNJ

Everyone complains about the radio, but very few people are doing anything about it. In New Jersey, one of the beacons of hope is HomeGrownRadioNJ.org, which follows, 24 hours a day, the kind of free-form format that a mainstream station would only play overnights and on weekends, if at all. As I’m listening right now, Matthew Sweet’s “We’re the Same” is seguing into the Band’s “Katie’s Been Gone.” In a press release, the station describes its programming as “from Mozart to Zappa, Scottish to Horror, Bowie to Ellington and beyond.” Included in the “beyond,” I guess, is the local Jersey talent that the station features regularly.
