Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, who released their first album in November 1976, have announced a 40th anniversary tour that will keep them on the road from late April to late July. And it will include a show at the Prudential Center in Newark, June 16, with Joe Walsh opening.

Other Northeast shows will include the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia, July 1; and Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, N.Y., July 26-27. Chris Stapleton will open in Queens; openers for these shows are TBA.
The band’s last studio album was Hypnotic Eye, in 2014. It is also releasing, today, two vinyl boxed sets covering its entire career: The Complete Studio Albums, Vol. 1 (1976-1991) and The Complete Studio Albums, Vol. 2 (1994-2014).
