Tony Orlando will headline free show at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel

TONY ORLANDO

Tony Orlando, who will enter the New Jersey Hall of Fame in October, will headline a free concert at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, Sept. 12 at 1:30 p.m., with comedian John Pizzi opening.

The show is part of the Garden State Arts Foundation’s Senior Concert series. For information, visit gsafoundation.org.

Orlando, who lived in Union City and Hasbrouck Heights as a teenager, was one of the most successful recording artists of the first half of the ’70s, with hits (recorded with the backing vocal duo Dawn) such as “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree,” “Say, Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose,” “Knock Three Times,” “He Don’t Love You (Like I Love You)” and “Candida.” He currently has a 10 p.m. to midnight Saturday night radio show on WABC in New York (770 AM, 107.1 FM and streaming at wabcmusicradio.com).

Other shows in the Senior Concert Series include Dominic Scaglione Jr. (tribute to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, The Four Seasons and others) and comedian Gary DeLena, Sept. 6 at 1:30 p.m.; and Richie Santa (Elvis Presley tribute), Frankie Pizarro (formerly of The Platters) and Bill Haley Jr.’s Comets, Sept. 26 at 1:30 p.m.
