Virtual ‘NJSO Everywhere’ series features musicians in scenic Jersey settings

New Jersey Symphony Orchestra musicians are giving performances around the state that are being filmed and distributed online, in the NJSO Everywhere series.

In the first installment, which is currently viewable (and embedded below), David Southern plays Princeton resident Jessie Montgomery’s Rhapsody No. 1 for Solo Violin on the roof of the One Theater Square apartment building (across the street from NJPAC, with a great view of the Manhattan skyline) in Newark.

In the next video, debuting March 17 at 7:30 p.m., brass ensembles perform on the boardwalk and beach in Seaside Heights: Trumpeter Michael Baker, hornist Lawrence DiBello and trombonist Vernon Post play the first movement of Poulenc’s Sonata for Horn, Trumpet and Trombone. Also, Baker, Post and hornist Andrea Menousek perform Sousa’s Washington Post March.

In the third video, debuting March 31 at 7:30 p.m., a string quartet featuring violinists Bryan Hernandez-Luch and Ming Yang, violist Brett Deubner and cellist Laura Andrade will play the late Montclair resident George Walker’s Lyric for Strings at Hoboken’s Pier C Park.

Next, April 21 at 7:30 p.m., a chamber ensemble will perform the first movement of Beethoven’s Septet at Vleck House & Gardens in Montclair. The group will feature violinist Eric Wyrick, violist David Blinn, cellist Na-Young Baek, bassist Alexander Bickard, clarinetist Andrew Lamy, bassoonist Robert Wagner and hornist Lawrence DiBello.
