Warren Zanes will read from his 2015 Tom Petty book “Petty: The Biography” and also answer questions about it, and perform Petty’s music, at Little City Books in Hoboken, April 13 at 7 p.m.
He won’t be alone. Richard Barone, James Mastro, Freedy Johnston, Tammy Faye Starlite “and others will be playing TP classics, and I’ll be sharing some stories about the making of Petty: The Biography,” Zanes wrote in a Facebook message.
Tickets are $40, with a signed copy of “Petty: The Biography” included. Visit littlecitybooks.com.
Zanes, who lives in Montclair, is a singer-songwriter as well as an author. He first became a friend of Petty in the ’80s, when the band he played guitar for at the time, The Del Fuegos (fronted by his brother Dan), opened shows for Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Petty died in October, at the age of 66.
“Petty: The Biography” was named the fourth best music book of 2015 by Rolling Stone.
