When The Tedeschi Trucks Band came to The Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, last week, they played Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City” the first night, and The Boss’ “State Trooper,” the second. It occurred to me, in regard to “Atlantic City,” that that is a song that has already been memorably covered by many other artists, and so I decided to put together a collection of some of my favorites. You can watch videos for 20 of them, below.

Here are the “Atlantic City,” videos, in no particular order but starting with the TTB cover (sung by Susan Tedeschi) and The Band’s rootsy version (sung by Levon Helm), which is about as definitive as you can get — and has also led directly, I suspect, to many of the other covers. I have also included five of Springsteen’s own versions, below the 20 covers. (Springsteen’s 2024 touring, incidentally, will begin in less than a month: March 19 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix).
