The Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank has lined up the exclusive area screening of the Elvis Costello concert film, “Detour: Live At the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall,” Jan. 14. Tickets, priced at $10, go on sale Friday at noon; visit TheBasie.org.
The film was recorded at a concert this summer. A press release describes it as “a little more than 100 minutes in front of Costello’s home crowd — even his mom! The film portrays Costello taking fans on a musical journey through his vast songbook, set in a 1960s living room with an oversized television broadcasting never-seen-before personal photos. Detour Live… portrays Costello up front and proto-punk with guitar, powerfully heartfelt at the grand piano, and in playful mood sat down with the uke.”
The duo Larkin Poe is featured on seven songs.
According to elviscostello.info, the following songs are in the movie:
“(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes”
“Watch Your Step”
“Accidents Will Happen:”
