Netflix will be the outlet for the animated series, “Agent King.”

Jersey rocker John Eddie is a co-creator of an upcoming animated comedy/action series on Netflix titled “Agent King,” in which Elvis Presley will fight crime, undercover. Priscilla Presley — who was married to The King from 1967 to 1973 and is a co-founder of Elvis Presley Enterprises — is credited as the co-creator and co-executive producer (with Eddie) of the series.

Netflix describes the show this way: “Elvis Presley trades in his white jumpsuit for a jet pack when he is covertly inducted into a secret government spy program to help battle the dark forces that threaten the country he loves — all while holding down his day job as the King Of Rock And Roll.”

The series will be made by Sony Animation, with “Archer” writer Mike Arnold serving as showrunner, Elvis Presley associate Jerry Schilling serving as a consultant, and designer John Varvatos creating Presley’s animated wardrobe.

Eddie, who now lives in Nashville though he still performs frequently in New Jersey, posted today on his Facebook page: “I’ve been working on Agent King for a long time … years actually … but I didn’t really tell a lot of people … I kinda kept it to myself because I wanted to wait and see if it was actually going to happen … well, it’s really happening!”

He also posted: “There’s going to be a lot more exciting Agent King announcements in the coming weeks and months ahead as far as casting, the music and who is going to be the voice of Elvis so stay tuned!

“This whole thing is a dream come true and I just want to say big luv and thanks to Priscilla and everyone at Netflix and Sony Animation! And of course big luv and thanks to Elvis!”

The announcement, made today, coincides with the 42nd anniversary of Presley’s death.

No release date has been set yet for the series’ debut.
