Lionel Richie’s upcoming tour with Mariah Carey, which had been scheduled to come to the Prudential Center in Newark on March 17, has been postponed, with the new dates not available yet.
“When you have been performing as long as I have it takes a toll on your body,” Richie posted on his Facebook page, Friday. “Unfortunately my recovery from a knee procedure will not have me 100% ready to start the tour next month. I don’t want to disappoint my fans and I look forward to being back on stage so we can all be ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’ together again …
“The tour will be postponed until this summer and I’ll announce new dates next week.”
(March 10 Update: The new date for the Newark show has been announced. It’s Aug. 18.)
Richie’s All the Hits Tour had been scheduled to begin March 15 in Baltimore. Other Northeast dates included March 18 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, April 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York, and April 8 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y.
