Michael McGrath, Laura Bell Bundy will be in Paper Mill’s ‘Honeymooners’

Michael McGrath will star as Ralph Kramden in “The Honeymooners” at the Paper Mill Playhouse.

Tony winner Michael McGrath and Tony nominee Laura Bell Bundy will co-star in the new musical adaptation of the classic television show “The Honeymooners” at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn this fall.

McGrath will be Ralph Kramden and Bundy will be Trixie Norton. Joining them will be Michael Mastro as Ed Norton, Leslie Kritzer as Alice Kramden, and more than a dozen other actors in other roles and in the ensemble.

According to a press release, this is the plot of the musical: “After shocking their wives by winning a high-profile jingle contest, (Ralph and Ed) are catapulted out of Brooklyn and into the cutthroat world of Madison Avenue advertising, where they discover that their quest for the American Dream might cost them their friendship.”

Previews begin Sept. 28, with the official opening night on Oct. 8, and the last show on Oct. 29. For information, visit papermill.org.

The book is by Dusty Kay and Bill Nuss, with music by Stephen Weiner and lyrics by Peter Mills. John Rando directs, and Joshua Bergasse is the choreographer.

McGrath won his Tony for “Nice Work If You Can Get It” and was also nominated for “Spamalot.” His other Broadway credits include “The Front Page,” “She Loves Me,” “On the Twentieth Century,” “Memphis” and “Swinging on a Star.”

Bundy was Tony-nominated for “Legally Blonde.” Her other Broadway credits include “Ruthless,” “Hairspray” and “Wicked.”
