The Montclair Jazz Festival is expanding in two significant ways this year, streaming its nine hours of music online on Aug. 15, and presenting 10 mid-day concerts in the two weeks leading up to the festival, starting today.

The festival takes place at Nishuane Park, while the mid-day concerts will be at the amphitheater at Montclair State University. Everything is free; visit montclairjazzfestival.org for information.

The streaming will take place at jazztimes.com as well as at montclairjazzfestival.org.

The Aug. 15 festival will take place from noon to 9 p.m. and feature José James, the Paquito D’Rivera Quintet, the Christian McBride Big Band (with singer Melissa Walker), Radam Schwartz + Organized, the Jazz House Faculty Collective (directed by Ed Palermo) and Jazz House Kids’ student ensembles and vocal groups.

The amphitheater shows will take place from 2:15 to 3:30 (the rain location is Montclair State’s Leshowitz Recital Hall) and feature:

Aug. 3-4: Jazz House Summer Workshop faculty.
Aug. 5: Rudresh Mahanthappa, Geoff Keezer, Tia Fuller.
Aug. 6: Symposium with Christian McBride.
Aug. 7: TBD.
Aug. 10: Jazz House Summer Workshop teaching assistants and alumni.
