Last year’s inaugural Make Music Day in Montclair has expanded to Make Music Weekend, with free performances all over town this Saturday and Sunday.
Offerings will include a sing-along and play-along to Aretha Franklin’s “Respect” at 3 p.m. Saturday at Edgemont Park, and a semi-staged, costumed performance of “The Magic Flute” by the Opera Theatre of Montclair at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, outdoors at the Montclair Public Library.
The first Make Music Day took place in 1982 in France. It is now held in more than 700 cities throughout the world.
