The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and the Paper Mill Playhouse have joined forces for a collaborative, virtual performance series that launches Jan. 5 at 7 p.m., with Rema Webb singing the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein song “You’ll Never Walk Alone” with the NJSO string quartet. It is free and can be seen at njsymphony.org/papermill and the orchestra’s YouTube and social media’s channels, and will remain viewable on demand after the debut.
Webb co-starred in the Paper Mill’s early-2020 production of “Unmasked: The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber” and has performed on Broadway in “The Color Purple,” “The Lion King,” “The Book of Mormon” and other musicals. The quintet features violinists Bryan Hernandez-Luch and Héctor Falcón, violist David Blinn, cellist Sarah Seiver and bassist Ha Young Jung.
Future videos in the series will air once a month, through April. A video of Jacob Keith Watson singing “Out There” from “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” premieres Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.; Belinda Allyn and Matt Doyle perform “Tonight” from “West Side Story,” March 2 at 7 p.m.; and Tally Sessions sings “Being Alive” from “Company,” April 13 at 7 p.m.
