Southside Johnny at the Stone Pony, Friday night.

SPOILER ALERT!

If you want to be totally surprised by Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes’ setlist at their Saturday night concert at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, where they will perform a night of Bruce Springsteen-written songs, read no further. But according to online reports, they played six Springsteen songs at the Friday night Pony show, devoted to rarities: “Tenth Avenue Freeze-out,” “All the Way Home,” “Cover Me,” “When You Dance,” “Talk to Me” and “The Fever.”

A YouTube video for “Tenth Avenue Freeze-out” (complete with an audience participation segment) is below.

Talking to the crowd in the video, Southside reiterated what he said in a pre-show interview: That he put together this two-night stand in order to offer something unusual that his fans would appreciate, and enjoy. “This ain’t for us, trust me when I say. It’s for you, to break up the winter. That’s all I care about,” he said.

I’ll be at tonight’s show, so check out my review tomorrow morning.
