If you are a playwright inspired by Garden State history, Kean University may be looking for you. The university’s Premiere Stages is currently seeking submissions of one-act plays that celebrate New Jersey history, written by residents or natives of the state, for its 2015/2016 Liberty Live Commission.

Liberty Live is a partnership between Premiere Stages and the university’s Liberty Hall Museum that will feature a production of the play. All submissions will be considered, but, according to a press release, the selection panel “is particularly interested in 45-60 minute plays that explore events that helped the Union cause in the American Civil War, events that happened in the township of Plainfield, or the unique friendship between Albert Einstein and Marian Anderson.”

The winner will get $1,000, and the script will be developed and then produced in November 2016 at Liberty Hall Museum. There is no fee to enter, and the deadline for proposals is June 30.
