Remember Jones to portray ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ at Axelrod Performing Arts Center

Remember Jones will present a concert at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center in Deal on Aug. 24. And in November, he’ll be back at the theater doing something very different, starring in the title role(s) of the musical, “Jekyll & Hyde.”

The show, which ran on Broadway from 1997 to 2001, was conceived for the stage by Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden (adapting the story from the Robert Louis Stevenson novella, “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”), with music by Wildhorn, and book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse. Axelrod performances are scheduled for Nov. 4-5, 11-12 and 17-19.

As a singer and bandleader, Remember Jones has a very theatrical performing style. And he has also worked extensively in musical theater, in the past.

“I’m very excited to return to the theatre world in a role that will challenge me physically, emotionally, and creatively,” he says via email. “The folks at the Axelrod and director Paul Stancato have trusted me to take this notorious role in a fresh, new direction.”
