In tribute to Meat Loaf — who died Jan. 20, at the age of 74 — Remember Jones will perform the 1977 blockbuster album Bat Out of Hell in its entirety, as well as other material, at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center in Deal, April 29-30. (UPDATE: A May 1 show has been added as well.)
Meat Loaf “was always a tremendous influence for me as a singer and entertainer,” wrote Remember Jones on Facebook, Jan. 21, sharing a recording of him performing Meat Loaf’s “For Crying Out Loud” that you can hear below as well.
“this audio has been in the vaults for a while,” he wrote of his “For Crying Out Loud.” “it’s a pretty raw take without much edit but that’s the way i prefer this song.”
The Bat Out of Hell album is made up of “For Crying Out Loud,” the title track and five other songs: “Paradise by the Dashboard Light,” “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad,” “You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth,” “Heaven Can Wait” and “All Revved Up With No Place to Go.”
With more than 44 million copies sold (and three Top 40 singles via “Paradise by the Dashboard Light,” “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad” and “You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth”), it is the fourth best-selling album, ever.
The show will feature a 12-piece band as well as guests TBA. Tickets go on sale Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. at axelrodartscenter.com. A limited number of VIP tickets will include a post-show reception with a meet-and-greet and an acoustic performance, as well as a pre-release copy of Remember Jones’ next album.
