Veteran cabaret performer Taylor Mac’s epic 24-hour concert “A 24-Decade History of Popular Music” will be abridged down to regular concert length May 4 at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair, as part of the seventh annual Montclair Film Festival. The performance will benefit the festival’s year-round film and education programs.
In a press release, Montclair Film executive director Tom Hall described the work — which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this year— as “uniting theater, music, history, and community through the power of Taylor Mac’s visionary storytelling.”
Tickets are available atmontclairfilm.org. They range from $25 to $99.50, with special $200 tickets including a post-show reception.
This is the first confirmed event for next year’s festival, which takes place from April 26 to May 6.
