The Family Stone performs indoors at NJPAC, tonight.

Due to the threat of inclement weather, tonight’s Sounds of the City concert at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, featuring The Family Stone and Milo Z, will move indoors, to NJPAC’s Prudential Hall. The show is still free, but obviously there will be no need to bring lawn chairs and coolers.

The Family Stone is led by original Sly & the Family Stone members Jerry Martini, on saxophone, and Cynthia Robinson, on trumpet, and also features singer and drummer Alex Davis, guitarist Nate Wingfield and bassist Blaise Sison.

Doors will open at 4:30 p.m.

The remaining shows in the Sounds of the City series will feature:

Aug. 6: Motor City Revue (featuring singer Layonne Holmes), Valarie Adams and the Dimension Band

Aug. 13: Slick Rick and guests (including DJ Kaos; Channel Live, Sha Rock and DJ Wallah; Stick E. and the Hoods; Evitan, featuring Dres and Jarobi; Unique Freaks; Hakim Green of Channel Live; T La Rock; Afrika Bambaataa & the Soulsonic Force; and Kurtis Blow)

Aug. 20: José Alberto “El Canari0,” Michael Tate & 3D Ritmo de Vida.

Aug. 27: Alice Smith.
