Hot Tuna schedules two shows in At the Tabernacle series

Jack Casady, left, and Jorma Kaukonen of Hot Tuna.

Hot Tuna, which has performed frequently in the At the Tabernacle series at the Mount Tabor Tabernacle in Parsippany over the years, will be there again this year, Nov. 24-25 at 7:30 p.m.

These will be acoustic shows, and are being billed as a “Surf and Turf” series, meaning there will be different setlists each night. (For the record, Nov. 24 is “Surf” and Nov. 25 is “Turf.).

Tickets are $95; visit atthetabernacle.com.

Hot Tuna began as a bluesy offshoot of the Jefferson Airplane, in 1969, featuring Jorma Kaukonen on guitar and vocals, and Jack Casady on bass. Many other musicians have performed in Hot Tuna’s acoustic and electric incarnations over the years, but the Kaukonen-Casady partnership has remained at its core.

The only other At the Tabernacle show currently scheduled for this year is Graham Nash, in “An Intimate Evening of Stories and Song,” Sept. 22.

Hot Tuna has another New Jersey concert coming up, too, though this will be an electric one, also featuring guitarist Steve Kimock. It takes place at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, Dec. 7. And there will be acoustic shows at the City Winery in New York, Nov. 21-22.
