John Prine will headline 2019 Rockland-Bergen Music Festival

The Rockland-Bergen Music Festival has announced, via Facebook, that John Prine will headline its sixth annual edition, next summer.

Though this year the festival presented only one day of music outdoors, at Masonic Park in Tappan, N.Y. (near the Bergen County border), next year, it will go back to two, on June 22 and 23. Prine is booked for June 23.

The festival will also include shows at the ’76 House in Tappan, and the Turning Point in Piermont, N.Y., June 20-22; a Rockland Music Awards show on June 19, at a location to be announced; and a wrap-up party at ’76 House, June 23.

(Jan. 31 Update: The Willie Nile Band, The James Maddock Band and Joe D’Urso & Stone Caravan have been confirmed for June 22. And the following acts will perform before Prine on the 23: Donna the Buffalo, Joe Purdy, Joe D’Urso’s Acoustic Excursion, Williams Honor, Matt Jaffe, and Tim O’Donohue & TMU.

Performers at past installments of the festival have included Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, Shawn Colvin, Jorma Kaukonen, John Sebastian, David Johansen, Marshall Crenshaw, Willie Nile, Steve Forbert, Joe Grushecky, Garland Jeffreys and festival organizer Joe D’Urso and his band, Stone Caravan.

Prine released, this year, his first album of new material in 13 years: The Tree of Forgiveness, which features guest appearances by Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires.
