King Crimson will bring its We Paint Electric Rhythm Colour Tour to the State Theatre in New Brunswick.

King Crimson, which celebrated its 50th anniversary with a tour last year, will be back on the road in its 51st year, and will perform at the State Theatre in New Brunswick, June 22. Tickets will go on sale March 13 at 10 a.m., with pre-sales March 12 at 10 a.m. Visit

The current King Crimson lineup features its founder, guitarist Robert Fripp, along with saxophonist Mel Collins, bassist Tony Levin, singer Jakko Jakszyk and drummers Pat Mastelotto, Gavin Harrison and Jeremy Stacey.

Other Northeast venues on the band’s six-week, North American We Paint Electric Rhythm Colour Tour (which begins June 4 in Florida) will include the Mann Center in Philadelphia, June 14; and Forest Hill Stadium in New York, June 19.

“It’s great to be going back to outdoor venues, some of them the ‘sheds’ we played in the 1980s,” said Levin on the band’s web site. “And we’ll be travelling by tour bus, old school! As for what pieces we’ll play, that hasn’t been decided yet, but will likely be a wide selection from the 50 years of Crimson repertoire. With 7 players on stage, we can cover it all.”

Opening shows throughout the tour will be The Zappa Band, featuring singer-guitarist Ray White, guitarist Mike Keneally and other musicians who worked with Frank Zappa, playing Zappa songs.
