Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul are releasing their November 2017 performance at Liverpool’s 350-capacity Cavern Club —where The Beatles performed frequently from 1961 to 1963, and were discovered by manager Brian Epstein — as a CD and DVD. Titled Macca to Mecca!, it will come out Jan. 29 on Little Steven Van Zandt’s UMe-distributed Wicked Cool label.
Previously, it was only available on the vinyl boxed set and Blu-ray editions of the band’s Soulfire Live! concert album. It will also be available, though, on a new, expanded four-CD version of Soulfire Live! that also comes out on Jan. 29.
The DVD also includes behind-the-scenes and documentary footage.
“Playing in the same venue where The Beatles started their careers was a childhood dream of mine come true,” said Little Steven Van Zandt in a press release. “This was a band that set me on course for a life of music. For my rock ‘n’ roll religion, The Cavern is the first sacred site (after the 4 clubs in Hamburg they played!). It was an honor — no, make that an epiphany — to perform there.”
Van Zandt and the Disciples of Soul performed only songs written or covered by The Beatles at the Cavern Club. Here is the setlist:
“I Saw Her Standing There”
“Magical Mystery Tour”
“Boys”
“Slow Down”
“Some Other Guy”
“Soldier of Love (Lay Down Your Arms)”
“Good Morning Good Morning”
“Got to Get You Into My Life”
“All You Need Is Love”
“Birthday”
