The dynamic blues-rock singer-songwriter and guitarist Samantha Fish will headline this year’s edition of the free, annual Morristown Jazz and Blues Festival, taking place on Aug. 16 on the downtown Morristown Green.

Fish’s latest album, Paper Doll, just came out on April 25 (listen to the title track below). Her previous release — 2023’s Death Wish Blues, a collaboration with Jesse Dayton — was nominated for a Grammy in the Contemporary Blues Album category.

The year’s festival will mark a return to August, after moving to September from 2021 to 2024. (The 2020 festival was cancelled because of the pandemic.).

“We are excited to be back in August,” said Morristown Mayor Dougherty (who initiated the festival in 2011), in a press release. “From vibrant jazz to soulful blues, there is something for every music lover. It’s no wonder that we attract fans from far beyond the metro area — people come from all over the country and even internationally.”

Here is this year’s schedule:

Noon: Dani G. & Friends
2 p.m.: The Jazz Ambassadors (U.S. Army Big Band)
4 p.m.: Blues People
6 p.m.: King Solomon Hicks
8 p.m.: Samantha Fish

It is recommended that attendees bring lawn chair or blankets. For information, visit morristownjazzandblues.org.
