Springsteen postpones Sunday’s Madison Square Garden show

Bruce Springsteen’s Jan. 24 show at Madison Square Gareden has been postponed. According to a message posted on BruceSpringsteen.net: “Madison Square Garden and Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band must postpone the performance set for tomorrow (January 24) due to a Tri-state travel ban and safety concerns from severe weather. There is not an immediate date available for reschedule, but more information will be coming shortly.”

Springsteen is also scheduled to perform at the Garden on Jan. 27, as well as at the Prudential Center in Newark on Jan. 31. All shows will feature Springsteen’s 1980 double album The River in its entirety, as well as other songs.

A rescheduling for some other time this week is unlikely. While Springsteen has open dates in his tour Jan. 25-26, 28 and 30, the Garden has events scheduled for all those dates except for Jan. 28, and Springsteen has not booked shows on consecutive days at any other point on his current tour.

This post will be updated as more information becomes available.

To help get you through this weekend, here is a video of Springsteen and the E Street Band performing “California Sun” — a 1964 hit by the Indiana-based group, The Rivieras — in 2012.
