Little Steven’s ‘Soulfire Live!’ gets surprise release today

In conjunction with the start of a tour April 29 at the State Theatre in New Brunswick, and an appearance on television’s “Megyn Kelly Today” today at 9 a.m., Steven Van Zandt has announced the surprise digital release of the Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul concert album, Soulfire Live!

Three-CD, Blu-ray and vinyl editions will be available this summer.

Songs were recorded at North American and European concert last year. Legendary songwriter Mike Stoller’s introduction of the band, at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles in October, is included as well.

In addition to the State Theatre show, Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul will perform at the PlayStation Theater in New York, May 2; and the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, May 5.

Also, Van Zandt will be inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame at a May 6 ceremony at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park.
